While on vacation in Panglao, Bohol in the Philippines, a man by the name of Jose Enrico V. Libunao spotted a dog waiting outside a fast-food restaurant on March 13, 2020. The dog immediately caught Libunao’s interest, who could not help but snap a photo. Hoping to know more about the dog, Libunao asked around.
It turns out, the dog, whose name is Chubby, had a habit of going to this particular fast-food restaurant with its human, who was in Manila at the time. Libunao was so amazed that he soon posted Chubby’s picture online and told the people about the dog’s nightly ritual.
A hardworking doggo
It did not take long before the story was picked up by a local newspaper, Inquirer.net. After some digging, the newspaper was able to get in touch with Chubby’s human, Mewa Duanne. Duanne clarified that despite the fact that they were miles apart, Chubby was far from being a stray.
In an online post, Duanne explained that Chubby works as a Customer Service Representative of a Shaka Café, a gourmet restaurant near the fast-food restaurant. Duanne also said that Chubby is the opposite of being neglected, for the dog receives a daily meal allowance and even gets tipped while on duty.
A much-deserved reward
Hoping to shed light on the now-viral picture of Chubby outside a fast-food restaurant, Duanne explained that Chubby’s hard work is often rewarded with a meal from the said restaurant, among other things. Duanne also revealed that Chubby has its own Instagram account, chubby_urfriend.
A quick visit to Chubby’s Instagram page will reveal that Duanne was not kidding when he said that Chubby is not being neglected. Aside from frequently getting dinner from a fast-food restaurant, Chubby also enjoys hanging out on the beach, chasing birds, and just living it up on one of the Philippines’ best-looking islands.
