Foxy and the Hounds, a dog rescue group in Los Angeles, California, received a call about two adult dogs that walked into someone’s yard. The woman who called said one was male and the other was a pregnant female. In less than an hour since the animals arrived, the female dog gave birth.
The woman didn’t know what to do so she sought help. Foxy and the Hounds, however, knew it was an urgent case and they won’t be able to make it on-site soon enough. So instead of taking the risk, they reached out to Eldad Hagar and Loreta Frankonyte of Hope For Paws for help.
As soon as the rescue partners got the call, they agreed to help. They hopped into their car and raced time. They met with the homeowner and laid out a plan to get the entire family into safety.
Loreta brought the travel crate inside while Eldad blocked every possible escape route. They knew the dog parents could feel threatened and might bolt away. It wasn’t something they wanted to risk.
The rescuers started to work on gaining the dog’s trust. They offered them hotdog bites to encourage them to walk close to them. But when Eldad touched the puppies and realized one of them felt a little cold, they decided to tend to the puppies first.
After placing the puppies in a well-insulated crate, the rescue partners continued to befriend the adult dogs. They gave them time to feel at ease with them, and eventually, managed to place a leash around the female dog’s neck.
The male dog tried to run away, but as soon as his girlfriend was inside the crate, he rushed right into it. He didn’t really want to be away from her.
The rescuers named the furry family Carrie, Mr. Big, Charlotte, Samatha, Aidan, and Miranda. They continued to their foster home with Foxy and the Hounds and will stay there until they all find their happy endings.
