Chapa, a senior stray dog believed to be about 10 years old, lived outside the premises of a business that rents garages. No one knew her past. She just appeared in the area one day, probably dumped by her previous owners due to old age.
Most people didn’t mind having the homeless dog around. Some of them even gave her food at times, but not everyone felt the same. An unhappy camper didn’t like the dog and tried to shoot her for dead.
After the incident, concerned residents realized it was no longer safe for Chapa to stay in their community. They decided to call for help and contacted Olena Pyanov of Love Furry Friends Animal Rescue in Odessa, Ukraine.
Olena immediately responded and worked on gaining Chapa’s trust as soon as she made it to the site. She was patient, but the terrified dog was so hesitant to come close to her. Thankfully, a kind man, Sergei, showed up, and he volunteered to help catch the dog.
Sergei was the one who regularly feeds the dog. She trusted him, but she seemed to understand what he wanted. She played hard to get, but eventually, he managed to capture her safely.
Olena took Chapa straight to the animal clinic for an extensive medical examination. The vet performed an X-ray and confirmed someone shot her. It was a miracle she didn’t die.
After receiving medical care, a spa treatment, and a haircut, Chapa felt and looked much better. She was so happy and had a huge smile on her face. Despite her old age, she had the energy of a puppy because she knew she’s finally in safe hands.
Chapa is a senior dog but she deserves love like any other younger dog. She dreams of finding that one person who will invite her and welcome her into his loving home. If that person is you, please reach out to Love Furry Friends Animal Rescue.
