It often feels special when a dog is added to the family. But, it becomes even more special when a newborn is involved. Perhaps, this is why many people have grown to love the story of Hinckley, a Golden Retriever, and Teddy, the new and cute baby in the family.
Social media has been bustling since the videos of the pup and the infant was shared online. It’s very evident in the clips just how much love the two have for each other.
In an interview with DailyMail, Whitney Parks, the mother of Theodore, shared that the pup was just one year old when they brought Theodore home. The 37-year-old mother added that at first, Hinckley thought that the baby was a toy.
While it was perhaps true when they first took Teddy home in October 2020, the dog instantly realized that the newborn wasn’t a plaything. Soon after, Hinckley was already standing close to the baby, trying to keep him safe while he sleeps.
Whitney also mentioned that she understands why the pup thought Teddy was his new toy the first time they brought him home. It was because Hinckley used to be the center of their world, at least for a year.
It’s normal for people to be troubled about taking a new baby home when there is a pup member in the family.
But this process could be made easier and a success. The humans just need to make sure that the pooch doesn’t feel left out. And as it turns out, Hinckley feels relaxed and unaffected.
Instead, the pup joins every feeding session of the baby. The mom even shared that generally, Teddy stays on her left, and Hinckley settles on the right. It became a special time for the three of them to snuggle and bond.
There are also a few times that the pup tries to make a clean break with the baby whenever the mom isn’t attentive.
The mom enjoys watching the two connect and interact with each other. And it turns out that the internet loves seeing them together too!
