Although our doggos are definitely our best buddies, we should always remember that these fur babies originally belonged to the wild. So naturally, they will have characteristics that could give us some headaches. Luckily, we’ve been with our puppers for thousands of years, and we have taught them how to behave inside our homes.
However, despite the changes we have made in terms of their behavior, there are a couple of things that we are yet to truly change. These are their insatiable hunger, and their need to wander and explore. Before we domesticated them, doggos roamed around everywhere, that’s why our pups tend to run away.
Unfortunately, running away from home could lead to them putting themselves in danger. This is exactly what happened to this curious canine who went missing from their home in Seymour, Connecticut. Charlie, the exploring pooch, escaped from their home and had been missing for five days.
Luckily, people spotted the doggo up on a mountain ledge near Roosevelt Drive. Several organizations came to the scene and tried to rescue Charlie because the situation was dangerous for the rescuers and the pooch. Even firefighters from the nearby town of Hamden were at the scene.
In fact, a firefighter from Hamden was the one who dropped down to where Charlie was and scooped up the doggo. The firefighter secured Charlie with a rope for safe measure. They both made their way down the woody cliff that, slowly but surely.
Other rescuers were waiting for them at the foot of the mountain to help expedite the process. Once they had Charlie in their arms, they brought him right away to his owners so they can be reunited. The pooch was taken to the vet right away to make sure he did not sustain injuries. The whole rescue mission took four long hours to complete, but what’s important is that Charlie is now back home with his family.
