When rescuers found Blossom, she was in the worst state. She had two broken legs, an infected eye, and a body that was so fragile. If she didn’t move at all, people may have believed she was already dead.
No one ever discovered how the poor dog ended up the way she did. But her rescuers believed someone owned her. And for some reason, disliked her and then dumped her to die on her own.
The rescuers gently scooped the dog up and took her straight to the vet. After a thorough examination and a few tests, the doctors revealed she had Leishmaniasis, Ehrlichia, and Babesia, conditions that could have been fatal if left untreated. She also tested positive for heartworms and mange.
It wasn’t clear which one occurred first. Did she get sick after her owner dumped her? Or was she abandoned because she got sick? Whichever it may be, it was no reason to let Blossom suffer as she did.
Blossom’s eye was completely damaged and there was nothing the eye specialist could have done to save it. The good news was, it didn’t cause her any pain. Eventually, it was removed, and she still managed to live with just one eye.
The dog’s legs, meanwhile, were also irreparable. The surgeon believed whoever dumped her deliberately broke them to keep her from returning home. She could have died, but somehow, she didn’t.
The rescuers and the vet team worked hand-in-hand to make sure Blossom received all the necessary care she needed. With continuous medication and lots of love from her rescue family, she recovered. She overcame all of life’s challenges and learned how to be happy again.
Blossom’s recovery was incredible. She was supposed to die but she held on and survived. And thanks to everyone’s hard work, she found a new reason to live.
