At times, the best dogs are often ignored and left at the shelter. But it doesn’t mean there’s nothing fancy about them. It’s just that finding a perfect family for them is still a work in progress. Hence, no matter how long the wait is, it will eventually come at the right time with the right people.
In Iowa, a dog named Leo has been with Dogs Forever for almost three years. He was mostly admired by the shelter staff for being a nice and sweet pup. Unfortunately, Leo has a number of conditions for his adopter which made his adoption difficult, namely, a home without pets or children and a fenced-in yard.
A few years back, Leo was saved by a woman named Linda Reynolds from another shelter when he was about to be euthanized. She believed that the pup should not be put down and deserved another chance to live. Being a pup with a lot of reservations, Linda thought that there is someone out there who is willing to give Leo another try.
To be adopted immediately, the shelter posted Leo’s photos and videos on their Facebook page so people can get to know him more. The adorable pup showcased his playfulness and training progress hoping someone would be interested in adopting him but to no avail.
After waiting at the shelter for a long time, Leo finally got his chance to be with a family. A guy named David Evens came across the pup’s photo on the Internet and fell in love with him. The pup’s many issues and concerns didn’t bother him at all, and he still pushed through with the adoption. David even worked closely with the shelter’s trainer to get acquainted with Leo.
Thanks to the shelter’s kindness and thoughtfulness, Leo is off to a fresh start. On the other hand, David is more than happy to welcome the pup, knowing he needed the pup more than he needed him. After a recent breakup, he couldn’t think of any other companion to fill his loneliness aside from Leo.
